Characteristics

Capra Pyrenaica Hispanica is the subspecie of the most widely distributed wild goat on the Iberian Peninsula. One of the largest colonies of Spanish goat can be found in the Puertos de Tortosa-Beceite region.

The male has large and ringed horns that expand laterally like airplane wings, a characteristic that distinguishes this species from ibex found in other areas of the country. Females are much smaller than males. They can grow up to a length of 1.20 meters and a height of 60 centimeters. Female goats weigh between 30 and 45 kilograms and have much smaller horns than males.
